Two things of interest: (1) I was wrong about Anne Bancroft playing the lead on stage. She did the TV movie adaptation in 1992; the role was originated on stage by Linda Lavin. (2) In that same TV adaptation, Jonathan Silverman plays Stanley, the older brother of Eugene. Jonathan actually played Eugene in the big-screen film version of Brighton Beach Memoirs, the first play in the “Eugene Trilogy." Mind fuck!
